  • What makes us different

An on-the-beaten-path hotel with an off-the-beaten-path approach to 1960s roadside culture.

Relax and reconnect on our communal lawn, sip craft beer from The General Store, go out into the woods, or self-center at the first Nordic Spa Experience in all of Arizona.

  • Look to
the stars

Here at High Country Motor Lodge, stargazing is more than a pastime, it’s a soulful, sacred act — an opportunity to step outside ourselves.

Located in the foothills of Lowell Observatory — home to the discovery of Pluto — we honor Flagstaff's designation as the world's first International Dark Sky Place.

Celestial Views

Lowell Observatory

Their public observing plaza, the Giovale Open Deck Observatory, features daytime exhibits that highlight the science of spectroscopy and the types of telescopes astronomers use. At night, you can gaze through six advanced telescopes and see everything from rich star fields and planets to nebulae and galaxies.
